waning days of summer

if you are a teacher it always comes as a shock that summer is over and school is about to start and you haven't done nearly all the things that you had planned! but on the other hand, and there is always another hand, i will be glad to be back on a routine.

teachers are an unusual breed b/c we don't make resolutions at new years but at the beginning of each school year. so with that in mind, here are my resolutions:
1. i will do my best not to get caught up in the "drama" at school
2. i will avoid, to the best of my ability, gossip
3. i will remember that all parents are not stupid
4. i will be thankful that i have a job that i know is what i'm supposed to be doing, i don't have to ask why i am on this earth

i truly am excited about this year. i get to "promote" with my class from last year. we don't have to go through the beginning of year rituals, what is this teacher like, how much can i get away with, how much homework do we have, etc. we can hit the ground learning!!! and i am back in 5th grade, hooray! oh, btw, i am now certified to teach middle school reading so i will be applying for middle school next year if all goes well. of course i won't know what's available but we'll see...
